The locoregional recurrence post-mastectomy for ductal carcinoma in situ: Incidence and risk factors

The recurrence of breast cancer after mastectomy for DCIS is rare, however, it carries a high mortality rate for those who do relapse. Patients who have high risk factors such as young age at diagnosis and high risk tumor factors should be followed closely for signs of recurrence and/or metastasis.
