This study examines the level of community awareness regarding household waste disposal practices and their contribution to waterways pollution in Barangay 174, Caloocan City. Improper waste disposal has been identified as a major environmental issue. Despite the implementation of environmental policies such as Republic Act 9003, improper disposal practices remain evident in many communities. Using a quantitative research design, the study gathered data from selected households through online survey questionnaires to assess their awareness, practices, and perceptions related to waste disposal. The research focused on key areas including waste segregation, frequency and methods of disposal, environmental awareness, and challenges faced by residents in practicing proper waste management. Findings indicate that while residents generally demonstrate a moderate to high level of awareness regarding proper waste disposal, there remains a gap between knowledge and actual practices. The study further reveals that household practices significantly contribute to waterways pollution, emphasizing the need for stronger community engagement and education. The study concludes that awareness alone is insufficient; effective waste management requires stricter policies, accessible facilities, and continuous community education. These findings help guide local governments and organizations in developing targeted, sustainable strategies to reduce pollution and promote environmental responsibility.
