Falls in older adults with severe osteoporosis present a major health concern due to the heightened risk of fractures and reduced mobility. This study examined the influence of three types of anti-slip flooring rigid (R), patterned plastic (IR), and soft sponge (FO) on walking stability and slip risk in 11 elderly women (mean age: 64.47 ± 4.95 years). Gait parameters including speed, step and stride characteristics, support phases, and cadence were analyzed, alongside slip distances and joint motion dynamics. Although walking speed was approximately 5% higher on IR and FO compared to R, the differences were not statistically significant. The initial slip distance (ISD) was 36-39% lower on R, while the second slip distance (SSD) was 31% higher compared to the anti-slip surfaces. Despite limited statistical significance, these trends suggest that anti-slip flooring may offer better traction and slip resistance. These findings suggest that certain surface properties such as the patterned texture of the IR flooring may influence specific joint motion parameters that contribute to improved gait control and surface interaction, potentially enhancing walking stability in individuals with osteoporosis.
