The inspection and management of transportation infrastructure in Vietnam increasingly demand rapid, safe, and accurate data acquisition methods, moving beyond the limitations of traditional surveying. This paper evaluates a vehicle‐mounted mobile LiDAR solution for this purpose, focusing on two key aspects: geometric accuracy for surface condition assessment and its potential for 3D as‐built modeling and data integration. The study utilizes the AU20 mobile LiDAR system to scan a 955‐m segment of the Vinh Tuy 2 Bridge in Hanoi, with data processed using a GNSS‐PPK workflow. The survey was executed at a controlled speed of 15–20 km/h, yielding a high‐density point cloud (several thousand points per square meter) that ensures the capture of fine surface details. Compared to traditional terrestrial laser scanning or lower‐end mobile systems, the AU20 mobile LiDAR demonstrated superior efficiency and precision. Firstly, it shows that LiDAR‐derived slope deviations are negligible, with an RMSE of only 11.15 mm compared to high‐precision geometric leveling and GNSS‐RTK data. Secondly, we demonstrate a complete workflow for processing the point cloud data, including semantic segmentation, to generate a 3D as‐built corridor model in Civil 3D and integrate it with a geodatabase in ArcGIS Pro for web‐based sharing. The findings confirm that mobile LiDAR not only meets the stringent accuracy requirements for infrastructure inspection but also provides a foundational technology for developing dynamic, data‐rich 3D models essential for modern BIM and digital twin applications in operation management.
