The present study investigates MoS 2 @NiCoFe 2 O 4 nanocomposites with different weight ratios and their influence on the electrochemical storage properties. The synthesized ferrite nanoparticles were combined with molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) nanosheets. To improve overall electrochemical storage performance, the prepared composite aimed to combine the high surface area and layered structure of MoS 2 with the superior electrical conductivity and redox activity of NiCoFe 2 O 4 . The morphological, chemical, and physical characteristics of the produced nanocomposites were investigated and confirm the formation of the composites. NiCoFe 2 O 4 nanoparticles were uniformly distributed over the MoS 2 nanosheets, according to the morphological results, demonstrating a well-connected hybrid structure that facilitated ion diffusion and electron transport. The MoS 2 @NiCoFe 2 O 4 nanocomposites electrochemical performance was assessed using half-cell studies and an asymmetric supercapacitor coin cell setup. After testing a variety of NiCoFe 2 O 4 loadings, the sample with 10 % MoS 2 @NiCoFe 2 O 4 showed the highest specific capacitance (84.6 F/g). Furthermore, self-discharge analysis confirmed strong voltage retention (0.89 V at 5000 s and 0.58 V after 20,000 s) and consistent performance across multiple cycles, underscoring the device's excellent leakage resistance and durability. 98% of the capacitance was retained in 10000 repeated charge-discharge cycles. • MoS 2 –NCF with distorted nanorods synthesized via controlled hydrothermal method. • MNF-10 shows a specific capacitance of 84.6 F/g and 26.45 Wh/kg of energy density. • Maintained 98% capacitance retention after 10000 cycles. • Self-discharge studies were explored and provided good voltage retention.
