Finding the right antidepressant remains one of the most persistent challenges in treating major depressive disorder (MDD), particularly for patients with moderate to severe symptoms. Many discontinue treatment early, not because antidepressants fail broadly but because the first medication prescribed often is not the right fit, according to researchers in a new study published in JAMA that examines whether a digital decision support tool could help clinicians better tailor treatment choices and, in turn, improve outcomes.
