Summary: This study aimed to identify the role played by Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in activating the scientific research to achieve the Saudi vision 2030, and to reveal the obstacles facing the university in activating its research role, and to reach the necessary proposals in order to increase the level of activation. The descriptive approach in its survey style was used, the study tool was a questionnaire, and it was distributed to (325) faculty members; the study reached a set of results, the most important result the study reached is the medium degree agreement of the study sample with the research role of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in achieving the Saudi vision, with a mean of (3.04). The most important phrases are: The university is interested in global scientific publishing for the purpose of promotion with a mean of (3.83), and the university allows professors to work as part-time consultants with a mean of (3,54), and the obstacles that limit the university’s activation of its research role in achieving the vision was high with mean of (3.62), the most important of which were: the large number of teaching and administrative burdens on faculty members, as well as the lack of financial funds allocated to funding research.
