The finger tapping test (FTT) assesses fine motor function, motor coordination, and neural conduction time. In recent years, this test has transitioned from being conducted using computers or external accessories to being administered via touchscreen on smartphones, which could potentially expand its applicability across different populations. This study is a scoping review aimed at synthesizing the characteristics of studies that have utilized the FTT on mobile devices for motor assessment. This scoping review followed the PRISMA‐ScR guidelines, with searches conducted in MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science in October 2024. A total of 50 original studies describing the use of the FTT on mobile devices were included, while studies that did not directly apply the test using a mobile device were excluded. The studies, published between 2014 and 2024, addressed the use of the FTT in conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and healthy populations. The test proved effective in monitoring disease progression, assessing interventions, and identifying subtle motor changes, with a particular emphasis on comparative cross‐sectional studies and pilot studies. The evidence found in the literature suggests that the FTT on mobile devices is effective, accessible, and promising for motor monitoring across various conditions. Future studies should explore healthy populations and standardize protocols to enhance its application and accuracy.
