In India, education not only remains a social right but also acts as a lever of economic development. This is particularly the case in agriculture where a big segment of population relies on agriculture. Little is invested in education that directly benefits farmers—agricultural training, extension services and legal awareness programmes. The Agriculture Act, 2020 was aimed at modernising agricultural markets, facilitating contract farming and expanding avenues of trade for farmers. But the laws come under protests and eventually were repealed. Though there was much debate about political and economic issues, one critical aspect that was not discussed extensively were the poor educational and legal awareness among farmers over refroms. In this paper, we focus on a study how public expenditure of education correlates to farm income sustainability in India with reference to Agriculture Act, 2020.
