Key Points

  • The aim is to understand how by-products are formed during the catalytic reduction of NO using hydrogen.
  • Examined reduction of NO over alumina-supported Pt, Pd, and Rh catalysts
  • Analyzed the formation of N2O as a by-product
  • Investigated reaction mechanisms during catalytic processes
  • Identified formation of N2O as a significant by-product during NO reduction
  • Demonstrated differences in catalyst efficiency and by-product formation among Pt, Pd, and Rh
  • Revealed insights into optimizing conditions to minimize unwanted by-products

Abstract

We elucidate the formation mechanism of by-products especially N 2 O during NO purification using H 2 as a reductant on alumina-supported Pt, Pd, and Rh catalysts by looking into the catalytic reaction.
