Abstract

The paper is dedicated to study of multiple flexible negligibly thin inclusions located on the interface between two elastic semi-planes in a plane strain setting. The inclusions resist stretching and bending and possess surface prestress which is modeled by applying the Steigmann–Ogden surface model to the segments of the interface occupied by the inclusions. Using the Fourier transform method, the mechanical problem is reduced to a system of two singular integral equations. The existence and uniqueness of the solutions of the system is investigated by reduction to the system of two Fredholm equations of the second kind. The character of the solution at the tips of the inclusions is studied. The numerical solution of the system is investigated using the example of two inclusions. The numerical and parametric studies are presented and the effects of taking into account surface behavior are considered.
