Abstract

Surgical education research has undergone substantial transformation over the past three decades. In this article, we situate contemporary surgical education research within its historical lineage, drawing on Boyer’s framework of scholarship to illustrate how foundational and modern work have shaped current priorities and approaches. We aim to provide researchers with a conceptual framework, methodological clarity, and strategic direction to sustain the momentum of the field.
