Background: Safe hygienic practices include scientifically approved methods of cleaning, sanitation, waste management, and infection prevention to maintain a healthy and contamination-free environment. These practices involve proper hand hygiene, correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), surface disinfection, safe waste disposal, and maintenance of personal hygiene. Competency in these practices refers to the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to perform tasks correctly and consistently. Housekeeping personnel play a crucial role in prevention infection by reducing microbial contamination and controlling environmental risks. However, inadequate training may increase the risk of disease transmission in institutional settings. Objective: To assess the pretest competency score regarding safe hygienic practice among housekeeping personnel. To assess the post-test competency score regarding safe hygienic practices among housekeeping personnel. To compare pre-test and post-test competency score among housekeeping personnel. To associate between demographic variable and competency scores among housekeeping personnel. Methods A quantitative research approach using a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was adopted. The study was conducted among 30 housekeeping personnel in a selected college in Gurugram using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured demographic proforma and a competency assessment checklist. A comprehensive training program was administered, followed by a post-test evaluation. Results: Age was not significantly associated with knowledge levels (χ² = 0.03, p = 0.862). Gender showed no significant association with knowledge levels (χ² = 0.00, p = 1.000). Education status did not demonstrate any significant relationship with knowledge levels (χ² = 0.375, p = 0.540). Type of employment (contract vs permanent) was not significantly associated with knowledge levels (χ² = 0.375, p = 0.540). Work experience also showed no significant association with knowledge levels (χ² = 0.25, p = 0.617). Conclusion: All calculated p-values were greater than 0.05, indicating that there was no statistically significant association between any of the demographic variables and the knowledge levels of the participants.
