Key Points

  • The study aims to investigate the relationship between components of psychological well-being and cognitive function.
  • Examined various components of psychological well-being.
  • Assessed their associations with cognitive function across different age groups.
  • Both sense of purpose and personal growth are significantly associated with cognitive function.
  • Other components of psychological well-being may provide protective effects for cognitive function.

Abstract

These findings extend past research by demonstrating that, in addition to sense of purpose, other components of psychological well-being, especially personal growth, are also associated with cognitive function. These well-being components should be assessed as possible protective factors for cognitive function across the lifespan.
