Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in education, enabling personalized learning, automated assessment, and predictive analytics. However, the growing reliance on AI-driven educational interventions raises concerns regarding ethical accountability, bias, transparency, and pedagogical effectiveness. Human oversight plays a critical role in ensuring that AI systems support equitable and meaningful learning outcomes. This study examines the perceptions of students regarding AI-driven educational tools and the necessity of human oversight through a quantitative survey of 150 students from the Thane district of Maharashtra, India. Using descriptive and inferential analysis, the findings reveal strong student support for AI-assisted learning, accompanied by a clear preference for teacher supervision and ethical governance. The study highlights opportunities, challenges, and future directions for integrating human judgment with AI systems in education.
