Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) is a leading cause of mortality after heart transplant (HTx). High-resolution intravascular imaging with optical coherence tomography (OCT) enables early detection and plaque characterization, with prior studies suggesting healed coronary plaques (HCPs), a layered plaque morphology, as the predominant lesion type. We used OCT to study HCP development after HTx.
