NanoTerasu is the first synchrotron radiation facility in Japan designed to exclude most of its experimental hall from radiation-controlled areas. During the accelerator commissioning phase, the dose rate and annual dose at the boundary of the radiation-controlled area in the experimental hall have been measured, along with the injection charge.
