Authority may be used to serve personal interests, plan, ideology, vision, etc. In the Church, however, authority ought to be used to serve God-revealed eschatological vision, namely the ‘new heavens and new earth.’ This article elaborates the point that the eschatological vision is actually restoration of creation to its original state, which corresponded to God’s mind and heart and which God confirmed with acts of ‘blessing,’ and suggests that the Church needs to exercise authority to realize this eschatological vision, which is restoration of creation to its original state that God had confirmed with God’s act of blessing.
