PEM water electrolyzers, which are attracting attention due to the widespread adoption of renewable energy, use the precious metal iridium in their anode catalyst layers, which require low loadings and extended service life. This study aims to clarify the relationship between the degradation of the anode catalyst layer of PEM water electrolyzers and stack performance through numerical analysis. In particular, we investigated the degradation rate of the effective reaction area of the catalyst layer under various conditions through accelerated degradation tests and numerical analysis.
