Abstract We develop a novel technique to research finite-time synchronization transmission of signal between uncertain laser networks. Firstly, we analyze the new nonlinear effects of the laser output with ring cavity considering the transverse effects. Further, we modify the traditional sliding mode control technique so that it can be applied to finite-time synchronization transmission of signal between uncertain laser networks. And the network controller is designed by choosing the appropriate sliding surface, finite-time synchronization criterion between networks is obtained. At the same time, the adjustable parameter in network controller can be determined effectively based on the adaptive law designed.
