This study explores how films can function as an effective tool in learning a new language, focusing on students from the English Department of Tezpur University. It argues that films go beyond textbooks by offering real life contexts where learners can observe language in use, including vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural nuances. The audio visual nature of films helps students grasp accent and intonation more naturally while also making the learning process engaging and enjoyable. Additionally, films encourage active participation through discussions, debates, and classroom interaction, creating a more immersive learning environment. However, the study also highlights that the success of this method depends on the teacher’s approach and preparedness. By examining student perspectives, this research aims to understand how effective and meaningful film-based learning can be in language acquisition
