This article presents the findings of two qualitative studies—an observational analysis and the pre-service section of a museum checklist—focused on the digital presence of three UK museums. The research aimed to identify and compare the characteristics of museum websites and social media platforms and to assess whether they provide comprehensive information about museum facilities and address users’ basic needs when planning a visit. The results show that all museums offered essential information, including opening hours, location, directions, and contact details. However, several limitations were identified. Key areas for improvement include language accessibility, online booking options and guided tours, access to museum maps, and improvements in website navigation and content clarity. These findings highlight the potential of museum websites to enhance user engagement and complement the physical visit, particularly by strengthening pre- and post-visit services, while emphasizing the importance of tailoring digital resources to diverse user needs.
