Key Points

  • The research aims to track and analyze mutations in viral proteomes over time and geography to understand variant emergence.
  • Utilized long-term data tracking and sequencing of viral samples.
  • Identified seasonal trajectories of mutational patterns based on temporal and geographic data.
  • Reported the emergence of distinct viral variants linked to specific seasonal patterns.
  • Outlined the relationship between geographic locations and the frequency of specific mutations in viral proteomes.

Abstract

Long-term tracking and widespread sequencing provide ample amounts of data to study the mutations of viral proteomes leading to the emergence of variants along a temporal dimension. Described here is a process for identifying the seasonal trajectories of mutational patterns via both temporal and geographic dynamics.
