Electoral system in the Federal Republic of Iraq

This study aims to show the electoral system in Iraq and clarify the extent of the feasibility of each electoral system based on the ability of this system to respond to the political and social conditions that the country is going through. Through the electoral system, the trend is towards enhancing political stability and opening the way for competition between the people's representatives and clarifying the form of political authority.The type of electoral system also directly affects the form of the ruling system. The individual voting system in turn encourages the dual party system and the electoral list system encourages the presence of parties. The more the electoral system helps in expressing the popular will, the more it helps in the emergence and crystallization of efficient legislative councils that contribute to the crystallization of the democratic system in the country.The electoral system is considered necessary for sorting and determining the elected representatives. The electoral process assumes the existence of rules that allow the calculation of votes that are counted in favor of the candidates in order to determine the winner among them. It is based on specific technical methods that are usually characterized by complexity and diversity.The laws regulating the electoral process in Iraq at this stage are subject to radical change, whether in terms of the electoral system that will determine the conditions for candidacy or through amendments that result in quantitative and qualitative changes of great importance
