Abstract

Kanshi Ram Jayanti is celebrated on March 15th to honour the birth anniversary of the founder of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), born in 1934. Kanshi Ram, is less known for advocating the rights of OBCs. However, he constantly talked of OBCs rights and their misrepresentation in government and administration. In this speech given by him in 1994 in Bhandara District of Maharashtra, he questions why OBCs are stil behind SCs and STs in their representation. He talks about how Gandhi betrayed OBCs and didn't let their cause move forward. As a solution, Kanshi Ram calls for Bahujan Unity as a path forward.
