The OAPEN Foundation and KNAW Humanities Cluster are collaborating to establish OPERAS-NL, the Dutch National Node within the European OPERAS Research Infrastructure network. What does this mean for the Dutch social sciences and humanities community? OPERAS-NL serves as the connection point between the European OPERAS research infrastructure and the Dutch SSH research landscape. It will provide: Support for open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities (SSH) by: Providing support for OPERAS services, such as GoTriple and Vera Assessing the needs of users in the Netherlands Networking and events for researchers, publishers, and libraries Encouragement and assistance for Dutch institutions to become OPERAS Ordinary Members, to participate in OPERAS-NL, OPERAS Special Interest Groups and the wider OPERAS community, and ultimately to create a wider OPERAS-NL consortium Improved international visibility for Dutch SSH research. This poster outlines the benefits to the Dutch SSH research community in participating in OPERAS-NL. It will outline the OPERAS-NL strategic plan, the Nodes objectives for 2026 and its communications strategy. On a national level, OPERAS-NL can connect to ODISSEI, CLARIAH-NL, EHRI-NL, RESILIENCE and E-RIHS for the Dutch Science Foundation’s Large Scale Research Infrastructure roadmap for the SSH-domain. The board of OPERAS-NL shares a Supervisory Board member and a Steering Board member of the independent Dutch OpenJournals.nl consortium. It’s the ambition of OPERAS-NL to formalise a joint endeavour. As a National Node, OPERAS-NL provides tailored support and training for OPERAS services to SSH researchers in the Netherlands. It can also help collaboration beyond national borders in the European Research Area as one of 13 National Nodes connecting European initiatives with local research communities. The poster will also highlight how OPERAS services can support International collaboration, funding and Citizen Science as well as combating disinformation and fostering trust in SSH research Finally, the poster will also show how the fast growing Dutch Diamond Open Access community can interact with the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH), an OPERAS programme. For example, through co-design and in conversation, such as at the Towards new Horizons of Scholarly Publishing conference held at Radboud University, Nijmegen during February 2026 and at the National Open Science Festival in Groningen in 2025. OAPEN is dedicated to OA, peer-reviewed books operating three platforms: OAPEN Library, OAPEN OA Books Toolkit, and Directory of OA Books in partnership with OpenEdition. The KNAW Humanities Cluster is focused on connecting people, research, data and collections, fostering innovative humanities research and building sustainable infrastructure.
