With the rise of ChatGPT, large language models and, thus, generative AI are extensively discussed in the educational context. The goal of scalable personalization of learning and provision of feedback seems close. Both are also major objectives of learning analytics, which still face several shortcomings. Hence, the discussion about learning analytics in the era of large language models and generative AI has just recently started and still has many open questions. Thus, along with others, this topic should be the subject of this year’s learning analytics workshop.
