Synthetic zeolites have been used in regenerative CO2 removal systems in space and require desiccant units before the CO2 adsorption bed. This paper proposes a downsized CO2 removal system with downsized desiccant units using CeO2 as a CO2 adsorbent and examines its feasibility. Experimental data indicate that CeO2 adsorbent pellets could be used as a CO2 adsorbent in CO2 removal systems to reduce the volume of the dehumidifying cylinder by 42%. The weight of the cylinder and CO2 adsorbent can be reduced by 29%.
