-aryl γ-lactams in good to excellent yields and diastereoselectivities under mild conditions. The potentiality of this method has been demonstrated in expedient synthesis of pharmaceutical drugs such as (±)-oxiracetam, (±)-phenotropil, (±)-phenibut.HCl, and (±)-pregabalin.
