In this article, the author analyzed the legal essence, history, basic principles and implementation mechanisms of the institute of paternity determination in the Roman-German law family. He also considered the procedures for determining paternity in relation to children born in and out of wedlock, judicial practice and the impact of modern biomedical technologies on this institution and put forward relevant proposals and recommendations.
