This interdisciplinary research paper explores the relationship between agricultural environmental planning and disease development in sugarcane cultivation through the integration of modern plant pathology and traditional Vastu-based spatial principles. The study investigates whether factors such as: field orientation, airflow movement, drainage direction, sunlight exposure, land slope, irrigation placement, and spatial balance can influence the ecological conditions responsible for major sugarcane diseases including Red Rot, Smut, Wilt, and Grassy Shoot Disease. The paper compares agro-climatic conditions in major sugarcane regions such as Tamil Nadu and Peru and analyzes how humidity, water stagnation, and microclimatic imbalance contribute to fungal disease proliferation. It further proposes that several traditional Vastu concepts may correspond with scientifically measurable environmental variables including moisture control, airflow optimization, and solar sterilization. Rather than presenting Vastu as a supernatural doctrine, the study interprets it as a traditional environmental planning system that may contain ecologically functional agricultural insights. The paper introduces the concept of “Agro-Spatial Ecology” and proposes experimental frameworks for future scientific validation. The research combines: sustainable agriculture, environmental science, agro-ecology, traditional ecological knowledge, and plant disease management to develop a new interdisciplinary perspective on low-cost and environmentally balanced farming systems.
