Key Points

  • The aim is to highlight the clinical presentation and histopathological findings of cilio-choroidal tuberculoma that can mimic tumors.
  • Young female presented with eye pain, redness, and vision loss.
  • MRI revealed a nasal cilio-choroidal mass, leading to enucleation for diagnosis.
  • Histopathology confirmed caseating granuloma, and anti-tubercular therapy was started.
  • Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of cilio-choroidal tuberculoma with caseating granuloma after enucleation.
  • Nasal sentinel vessel was identified, a feature not previously reported in uveal tuberculoma.
  • Patient was treated with anti-tubercular therapy after diagnosis.

Abstract

A young female presented with eye pain, redness, and loss of vision in her left eye. Examination revealed no light perception, a nasal sentinel vessel, and neovascular glaucoma. MRI orbit revealed a nasal cilio-choroidal mass, and tumor was suspected. Enucleation was performed. Histopathology revealed caseating granuloma. There was a childhood history of tuberculosis but no systemic evidence of the disease. Anti-tubercular therapy was initiated. Cilio-choroidal tuberculoma can closely mimic tumor. The finding of a sentinel vessel which is often associated with uveal melanoma has not been previously described in uveal tuberculoma.
