Abstract

The present study aimed to formulate and evaluate a polyherbal face pack containing Orange peel, Neem, and Aloe vera for natural skin care applications. Herbal cosmetics have gained increasing popularity due to their safety, effectiveness, affordability, and minimal side effects compared to synthetic cosmetic products. Orange peel is a rich source of vitamin C and antioxidants that help in skin cleansing and brightening. Neem possesses antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties useful in acne management, while Aloe vera is well known for its moisturizing, soothing, and healing effects on the skin. Different formulations (F1–F4) were prepared by varying the concentrations of selected herbal ingredients along with Multani mitti, Rose petal powder, and Sandalwood powder. The prepared formulations were evaluated for organoleptic properties, pH, particle size, flow properties, spread ability, washability, irritancy, and stability using standard methods. All formulations showed acceptable appearance, pleasant odor, smooth texture, and good physicochemical characteristics suitable for topical use. The pH of formulations was found within the acceptable skin-compatible range (6.2–6.6). No signs of irritation or adverse skin reactions were observed during the irritancy study. Among all formulations, F4 showed superior performance in terms of spread ability, washability, flow properties, and overall acceptability. Stability studies indicated that the formulations remained stable under normal storage conditions without significant changes in appearance or quality. The study concluded that the developed polyherbal face pack can be considered a safe, effective, economical, and natural cosmetic preparation for routine skin care. It may serve as a suitable alternative to synthetic face packs. Further studies may be carried out for clinical evaluation and commercial development.
