Key Points

  • To analyze the causes, symptoms, and prevention of rabies, focusing on its epidemiological significance and treatment options.
  • Discussion of viral etiology and transmission routes.
  • Examination of clinical signs and risk factors associated with rabies.
  • Analysis of prevention strategies, including vaccination and post-exposure prophylaxis.
  • Rabies is fatal once clinical symptoms appear, emphasizing the importance of timely intervention.
  • Post-exposure prophylaxis effectively prevents the disease if administered promptly after potential exposure.
  • Vaccination significantly reduces rabies incidents in both human and animal populations.

Abstract

Discusses the etiology, transmission routes, clinical signs, epidemiological significance, treatment, and prevention of rabies from a scientific point of view. Rabies is a highly dangerous viral zoonotic disease that affects the central nervous system and is mainly transmitted through the bite or scratch of an infected animal. Once clinical symptoms appear, the disease is almost always fatal. However, timely post-exposure prophylaxis can prevent the development of the disease. The article analyzes the impact of rabies on human and animal health, risk factors among children, first aid after animal bites, the importance of vaccination, and prevention based on the “One Health” approach.
