During emergency repairs to a collapsed sewer on Friar Street, Reading (SU 7150 7359), in February 2013, the groundworkers discovered a deposit of bones and alerted the police. The bones were identified as animal but Berkshire Archaeology's Principal Archaeologist, Fiona MacDonald, recognised the deposit's archaeological potential and Thames Valley Archaeological Services (TVAS) was commissioned to conduct a watching brief, funded by Reading Borough Council.
Danielle Milbank (Thu,) studied this question.
