Key Points

  • The study aims to investigate the effects of pulsed high-energy plasma on the surface of piezoelectric ceramics to enhance their heat resistance.
  • Studied phase-structural transformations on piezoelectric ceramics under repeated plasma exposure.
  • Applied 10 exposure cycles with heat load of 20 MW/(m2 √s) per cycle.
  • Examined changes in properties after increasing exposure cycles up to 100.
  • Confirmed the formation of lead-free modified subsurface layer with ZrTiO4 nanocrystals after 10 cycles.
  • Observed stabilization of polarization properties with increased heat load after up to 100 cycles.

Abstract

The results of studying the phase-structural transformations on the surface of piezoelectric ceramics of the lead zirconate titanate system under repeated dosed plasma exposure to enhance the resistance to extreme heat loads is presented. The formation of lead-free modified subsurface layer containing ZrTiO4 nanocrystals is confirmed as a result of 10 exposure cycles with 20 MW/(m2 √s) heat load per cycle. The stabilization of the polarization properties is observed under a further increase in the heat load up to 100 exposure cycles.
