BACKGROUND: PR is a trait at the systemic level of an individual that determines their capacity to resist functional decline or restore physical health following exposure to a stressor and serves as a critical predictor of overall physiological health. However, the relationships between PR and SPA are still unknown. This study aimed to reveal the associations between PR and SPA, as well as its dimensions (aging awareness and negative results). METHODS: A cross-sectional design was conducted among 1120 Chinese community-dwelling older adults. The correlation between PR and SPA was examined using Pearson analysis, while the linear relationship between PR and SPA was assessed through multiple linear regression analysis. RESULTS: A total of 1120 participants (mean age 73.15 ± 5.22 years) were included in this study. After adjusting for General self-efficacy, anxiety, and depression, SPA (β=-0.179, P < 0.001), aging awareness (β=-0.059, P < 0.042), and negative results (β=-0.089, P<0.006) were associated with PR. CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the crucial associations of aging awareness and negative results with PR. Therefore, community medical workers can promote the correct understanding of aging and achieve positive aging by enhancing the physical resilience of the elderly in the community.
