Abstract Social anxiety disorder (SAD) involves the fear of social situations, including situations that involve scrutiny or contact with strangers. Usually, SAD is associated with low self-esteem and fear of criticism, which can affect the quality of life of patients as they often avoid social situations. A 23-year-old male patient having SAD managed with individualized homeopathic medicine, Acid Phosphoricum in 50 millesimal potency, at the outpatient department of the National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health (NHRIMH) is presented here. The Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS) was used for the assessment of severity at baseline and at subsequent follow-up visits. Remarkable improvement was observed in the case. The baseline LSAS score of 97 (severe SAD) changed to 22 (normal) after 4 months of intervention and became 7 at the sixth month. Individualized homeopathic medicine in 50 millesimal potencies can be considered in the management of patients with SAD. More valid evidence can be obtained with well-planned research designs.
