Abstract

ABSTRACT This study, as case study, aims to determine the effect of designing digital story for music eduction to the prospective music teachers' creativity with the basis of the prospective teachers' experiences and views. The participants consisted of 32 prospective music teachers studying in the Music Education Program in Turkey. This study enlightened a case in which the prospective music teachers had experienced in designing their own digital stories for music education and evaluated the effect of this experience on their creativity. The qualitative data was discussed under the perspective of creative theory. It was concluded the process of digital story design exposed the prospective music teachers to the mental processes such as creating alternative ideas, searching for these ideas, making relationships between ideas, creating an original message, constructing emotional content, and so forth, and the prospective teachers produced their own digital stories as an outcome of creative thinking. Both the process of digital story design exposing the prospective music teachers to these mental processes and their own digital stories as a result of creative thinking and creative engagement have indicated digital story design is a way of educating prospective music teachers thinking creatively.
