Garlic cultivation (Allium sativum L.) is a good source of income for many farmers in many parts of the world, but it is also gaining ground and becoming increasingly popular in our country. This paper presents a national study of trends in cultivated areas by analyzing dynamics and obtaining valuable information on garlic cultivation trends in Romania and by identifying the top garlic-growing counties. Garlic cultivation is correlated with climatic influences, which vary from one macro-region to another, and production is relatively similar across climate types, depending on climatic influences. The analysis of productivity and areas under garlic cultivation shows a downward trend in both area and production between 2010 and 2020, followed by an upward trend between 2020 and 2023. Thus, the area cultivated with garlic in Romania varied from 12,803 ha in 2010 to 5,260 ha in 2020, with a 60% reduction in area in 2020 compared to 2010. In 2023, the area cultivated with garlic increased by 35%, reaching 8,713 ha cultivated with garlic nationwide. In order to promote garlic cultivation as a financially attractive agricultural activity, it is necessary to inform and educate producers about cultivation technologies.
