Abstract

Personalized medicine in veterinary care enables tailored treatments based on species, individual conditions, and physiological needs. This study aims to present several examples of veterinary compounded products formulated in our lab and to evaluate their clinical impact. In response to specific clinical needs, we prepared and evaluated a range of personalized formulations using standardized methods: Eye drops: Tacrolimus 0.03%, Chloramphenicol 1%, Tobramycin 0.3%, Nepafenac 0.3%, Prednisolone 1%. Ophthalmic gels: Tacrolimus 0.03%, Tacrolimus 0.03% combined with Cyclosporine 0.2%, Ganciclovir 0.3%. Oral formulations, Topical ointment: A veterinary formulation containing Betamethasone, Clotrimazole, and Gentamicin. Compounded ophthalmic preparations enabled timely treatment of acute and chronic ocular conditions. Without in-house compounding, owners would have had to rely on external or human pharmacies—often impractical or unavailable. Syrups significantly improved medication adherence in cats. Divided tablets and customized capsules ensured precise, weight-adjusted dosing, particularly in young or elderly animals. Pharmaceutical compounding in veterinary practice enables safe, flexible, and effective therapies tailored to individual patients. The positive outcomes observed confirm the clinical value of personalized formulations, supporting their continued integration into daily veterinary care.
