This is the first of two issues of Communications in Analysis and Geometry dedicated to the memory of Richard Hamilton.He was a truly great mathematician, a wonderful speaker, and a joy to spend time with.He was supportive of all mathematicians and presented his work with humor, sharing his deep understanding of geometric analysis with contagious enthusiasm.He published often in our journal, always providing detailed proofs in an understandable way that even junior mathematicians could read with ease.
