The study aimed to examine the differences between cancer patients and healthy individuals in terms of cognitive distortions and chronic fatigue syndrome in light of certain variables in Kuwait. The study sample consisted of 250 participants, divided into two groups based on medical diagnosis: the first group included cancer patients, while the second group included healthy individuals. The study adopted a descriptive methodology. Data was collected using a questionnaire that included demographic information, as well as a cognitive distortion scale and a multidimensional fatigue scale. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences between cancer patients and healthy individuals in the overall score on the cognitive distortion scale in favor of cancer patients. Statistically significant differences were also found in all subdimensions of the cognitive distortion scale, except for the subdimensions of “exclusion of positive events” and “stigma.” Additionally, the results showed statistically significant differences in the overall score of the multidimensional fatigue scale and all its subdimensions in favor of cancer patients. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between the overall score of the multidimensional fatigue scale and all its subdimensions, on one hand, and cognitive distortions on the other, except for the subdimensions of “exclusion of positive events” and “stigma.” The results of the study indicated that three variables had a significant impact on cognitive distortions and chronic fatigue syndrome in cancer patients: gender, educational qualification, and marital status. The most affected categories were males, individuals with an education level below university, and married individuals. The study recommends developing strategies to help cancer patients cope with cognitive impairments and fatigue symptoms.
