Retrospective cohort study compares ED and ICU visits of dupilumab and tezepelumab in asthma, suggesting variable outcomes.
Key Points
This study aims to compare the real-world effectiveness of dupilumab and tezepelumab on clinical outcomes in asthma patients.
Retrospective cohort study using TriNetX research network data from over 100 healthcare institutions.
Included adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with asthma within one year and treated with dupilumab or tezepelumab.
Propensity score matching (1:1) balanced 2,207 patients per group on key demographics and clinical factors.
Dupilumab was linked to a higher risk of emergency department visits (HR 1.269; 95% CI 1.082-1.488; p = 0.003) compared to tezepelumab.
ICU admissions were also higher for dupilumab (HR 1.704; 95% CI 1.110-2.617; p = 0.014).
No significant differences were found for inpatient admissions (HR 1.138; 95% CI 0.913-1.419; p = 0.25) or asthma exacerbations (HR 0.935; 95% CI 0.834-1.049; p = 0.251).
