Abstract

The Wnt1-inducible signaling pathway protein 1 (WISP1) is a highly conserved,cysteine-rich secreted protein that belongs to the cell communication network factor (CCN) family.WISP1 is widely involved in cell proliferation,differentiation,apoptosis,adhesion,and metastasis,playing a critical role in various physiological and pathological processes.An increasing number of studies have demonstrated that dysregulated expression of WISP1 is associated with the development and progression of various human diseases,including cancer,fibrosis,metabolic disorders,and cardiovascular diseases.WISP1 can not only serve as a non-invasive diagnostic or prognostic biomarker but also holds great potential as a promising therapeutic target.To fully elucidate the potential application of WISP1 in cancer diagnosis and therapy,this review summarizes the structure,expression patterns,biological functions,and clinical correlations of WISP1 in human cancers,discusses its underlying molecular mechanisms,and highlights its translational clinical value.
