This study comprehensively examines the effects of rapidly increasing urbanization on agricultural production and ecosystems. Assessments conducted in Türkiye and from a global perspective reveal critical issues such as the shrinking of agricultural areas, habitat fragmentation, labor losses, food security risks, and the disruption of entomological balance. Urban sprawl reduces beneficial insect populations, weakens pollinator ecosystem services, and facilitates the spread of invasive species. Furthermore, increasing carbon emissions and temperature rises associated with climate change are leading to declines in agricultural productivity and the expansion of pest populations. The study proposes solutions such as sustainable urbanization plans, ecosystem-based entomological management, precision farming technologies, carbon-focused policies, and farmer education programs. In conclusion, maintaining the balance between agriculture and urbanization is critical not only to prevent production losses but also to preserve ecological integrity, biodiversity, and future food security.
