• Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) moderated acute exercise effects on prefrontal hemodynamics and dual-task performance in young adults. • Higher CRF was associated with better baseline dual-task accuracy and greater left prefrontal oxygenation. • CRF moderated exercise-induced improvements in reaction time and right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex activation. • Continuous regression analyses confirmed VO₂max as a significant predictor of post-exercise behavioral and neural outcomes • Findings provide empirical support for the cardiorespiratory fitness hypothesis in an East Asian sample.
