Abstract

ABSTRACT Bangladesh faces significant challenges in ensuring equal rights and social inclusion for persons with disabilities. Although the country ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2007 and enacted the Rights and Protection of Persons with Disabilities Act in 2013, gaps still exist between policy and implementation. This study examines the socio-economic conditions of persons with disabilities in Bangladesh, including education, employment, gender, and accessibility issues. It also evaluates the effectiveness of community-based support programs and existing disability policies. Using data from surveys and reports, the study highlights major barriers such as limited employment opportunities, lack of public awareness, and inadequate inclusive facilities. The paper proposes strategies including early intervention, inclusive education, counseling support, and accessible community services to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities. The study concludes with recommendations for strengthening policy implementation and promoting long-term social and economic inclusion in Bangladesh.
