The choice often depends on balancing modern needs for autonomy with the security of traditional support. Traditional values in geriatric care emphasize filiality, respect, and family-centered support, ensuring seniors receive holistic care within their familiar, nurturing environments. Pitru Devo Bhava (पितृ देवो भव) is a Sanskrit phrase meaning "Revere your Father as God," a core teaching in Hinduism emphasizing utmost respect, obedience, and gratitude towards one's father, viewing him as a divine source of life, strength, and guidance.
