Recruitment of internationally educated nurses (IENs) is a key health human resources strategy. Best practices to support their transition to practice are inconsistently defined in the literature. This program evaluation demonstrated the utility of a fully clinically based bridging program based on five core competencies in allowing IENs to successfully gain the knowledge, reasoning, and judgment essential for the nursing role in Canada.
